Building in Defly.io: Towers, Walls, Territory and the Level 20 Superpower

How a tower becomes a wall
Space or right-click drops a tower where your copter is. A tower on its own blocks nothing much. Two towers within range of each other draw a line between them the instant the second lands, and that line is a wall: enemy bullets stop at it, enemy copters cannot fly across it, and your own bullets sail straight through. Range is an upgrade, and it matters more than any other stat in the first minutes, because it decides how far apart you can space towers and still get a wall — which decides how much ground each press claims.
Closing a loop
When a chain of walls joins back onto itself, the inside fills with your colour. That is territory, and territory is what the FFA leaderboard counts and what feeds your level. The classic mistake is to build a tight square straight away: it is safe but tiny. Better is a long line out from an existing wall, a turn, and a line back — a thin rectangle claims several times the area for the same number of towers. If an enemy breaks one tower in the chain the loop is open again and the territory is lost, so the second thing to do after claiming is to thicken the side that faces the action.
The upgrade bars
Every level gives one point. The bars along the bottom cover copter speed, bullet damage and rate, tower range, tower health and how fast you can place them. A reasonable order for a new pilot: range, range, tower health, then damage. Speed is a luxury until you are fighting other high-level copters; damage before range means you can win a duel but have nothing worth defending.
Level 20
Reaching level 20 unlocks a superpower, chosen from a short list when it triggers — abilities that shield the copter for a moment, repair or fortify your walls, or hit everything in an area. In E-FFA that is usually the point where the round turns, because the pilot who reaches it first can push into another base that a level-12 copter could only shoot at from outside. Sit tight, claim ground, get there first.
Cutting other players
Everything above applies to your opponents too, which means the fastest way to gain is to stop them gaining. A copter flying away from you in a straight line is building a wall behind it; fly across its path and drop a single tower on the line. The chain is broken, the loop will not close, and the pilot has to turn back toward you to fix it.
